Over the last month, The Summit Church has seen a number of people make really exciting decisions—decisions about their faith, decisions about who God is and what He has done—and ultimately decisions to live as followers of Jesus. At The Summit, this is what we’re all about—connecting people to Jesus—and the best way for us to communicate these types of decisions to the rest of the world is by something the Bible calls baptism. Next Sunday night during our normal service, we are going to baptize a number of people from our church community—people who at some point, whether recently or in the past, have decided to trust Jesus, pursue God within our community, and continually live for Him…and they want you to know about it.
We bring this to your attention for 2 reasons:
- We want you to be there and celebrate alongside these friends. It’s going to be great and we’re going to have a memorable time with our new brothers and sisters.
- Secondly, if you’ve never been baptized, (i.e. you’ve never been baptized as an adult or just someone who actively and consciously follows Jesus), we would love for you to join in. This may sound intimidating…we get that. You may have been baptized as a baby or small child…we understand that and believe that act was a great picture of your parents’ faith and commitment toward you. But the Bible teaches that baptism is a public declaration of what God has done in your life and your decision to trust Jesus. So if that’s you and you’ve never been baptized and you would like to make that step…email us this week at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll make it happen. We’re looking forward to it.
