Maturing in Your Faith Bible Study

We all want growth—to transform over time into someone more whole, to gain a richer, more resonant daily life experience. The Christian faith is about undergoing this kind of change alongside others. Take part in a 5-week exploration of what maturing in your walk with Jesus looks like (the why, what, and how of it all).

Women’s Table

Women’s Table

This summer, we will gather in homes around the city to share a meal, build deeper relationships with other women in the church, and learn/practice different ways to pray and hear from God. We would love for you to join us!

Who is this for? All women

How does it work? Fill out this registration, and we will place you in a group of 6-8 women who will meet once a month for five months (dates below). We will send you the information for when and where you will gather. You will share a potluck meal with the group, and the host will lead everyone through a prayer practice.

Commitment: We hope to foster community and vulnerability within these groups, so we would love for women to be present for as many of the scheduled nights as possible (preferably three or more out of the five meeting times). However, we also understand things come up—so don't let an unsettled schedule stop you from participating.

Dates:
Our groups will meet on Thursday nights, Friday nights, or Saturday mornings.
Here are the weeks you will meet:
May 30th, 31st, June 1st
June 20th, 21st, 22nd
July 18th, 19th, 20th
August 15th, 16th, 17th
September 19th, 20th, 21st

Note: We will not be providing childcare and would love for these spaces to be distraction-free. However, if this creates barriers for you, please reach out to Carla (carla.m.adkins@gmail.com), and we will see how we can help!

We hope for the women of our church (and any we welcome) to grow in intimacy with God and each other.

Explore Scripture: Follow-up Sessions
Mar
24

Explore Scripture: Follow-up Sessions

Find yourself impacted by the Bible in new and deeper ways. Join us for one, two or all of these Explore Scripture follow-up sessions—each focusing on a different method of reading God’s word.

Explore Scripture Follow-up Session: 66 Love Letter Method
Sat 3/16 10:00am-11:30am

The 66 Love Letter approach to studying the Bible revolves around a prayerful conversation with God through each of the books of the Bible, asking Him to summarize in one sentence what He wants you to take away from each book. Together, they tell a story God wants you to hear.

Explore Scripture Follow-up Session: Unpacking Method
Sun 3/17 10:45am-12:15pm

The Unpacking approach to studying the Bible includes a comprehensive Bible-wide study of a specific concept, looking at every single passage that touches on that topic, paying attention to original wording and immediate context. By the end, we have an accurate understanding of how the Bible defines that concept, tells us how to embrace it, and reveals what it results in.

Exploring Scripture Follow-up Session: Exegetical Method
Thu 3/21 7-8:30pm

The Exegetical-Hermeneutical approach to studying the Bible entails comprehensive research underlying a passage, including author, initial audience, historical and cultural background, literary style, book context, key words & phrases, original languages, communication techniques, related biblical passages, and relevant application opportunities.

Exploring Scripture Follow-up Session: Meditative Method
Sat 3/23 10:00am-11:30am

The Meditative approach to studying the Bible centers around prayerfully pondering on (even murmuring or reciting) a verse over and over again, contemplating it until God reveals what He wants you to see in that verse and what to take away from it.

Exploring Scripture Follow-up Session: Storying Method
Sun 3/24 10:45am-12:15pm

The Storying approach to studying the Bible plays out through memorizing a story-version of a specific passage and reciting it to others orally, asking probing questions afterward. This follows the adage of one of the best ways to understanding something is to teach it to others.

Summit School of Prayer
Mar
6

Summit School of Prayer

The Summit School of Prayer is more of a community than a classroom, because movements birth out of community, not programs. The commitment includes:

  1. Corporate Prayer: Join one prayer meeting each week: Sunday at 8AM or Wednesday at 6AM, 12 noon, or 6:30PM

  2. Psalms: We will read through The Psalms each month for 3 months, 5 Psalms each day, starting with the day of the month and then adding 30. So for today, we would read Psalm 20, 50, 80, 110, 140. Tomorrow we would read Psalm 21, 51, 81, 111, 141. Etc.

  3. Book Club: There will be a shelf in the bookstore in the lobby with about 60 books that are mostly about prayer or they are biographies about people of prayer. It will be a shared, free library, so you can take books as you like. You can read as fast or as slow as works for you, but the goal is that you are reading something every week. If you read 3 books or part of 1 book over the 3 months, that’s great. When you are done with the book, bring it back to the shelf and get a new one. Or if one doesn’t vibe with you, get a different one.

  4. Community: There will be a monthly zoom call that’s suggested but not mandatory. Everyone will also be put in a group chat on GroupMe for prayer requests and to share encouragement or things they are learning / reading.

  5. Optional Outings: You will be invited to optional "prayer outings."
