A Life of Faith & Mission: Some Outward Steps

Each week of our series in the book of James, we shared some practical ways that we can be "doers of the word" (James 1:22-25) by serving the marginalized in our community. Below is a list of all the opportunities we shared, check them out and take the next step toward getting involved!

Save Our Youth | Save Our Youth is a youth development organization providing at-risk youth with educational, emotional, and spiritual skills for success through long-term mentoring relationships.

Hope & Home | As a nondenominational Christian charity, Hope & Home trains and actively supports foster families all across the front range who feel compelled by Christ’s command to take care of “the least of these.” Abused and neglected children who’ve been removed from their birth homes get a stable and nurturing family to live with until it’s safe to go home again, or—when that safety isn’t possible—a family to give them a “forever home” through adoption.

International Justice Mission | IJM works in communities in Africa, Latin America, South Asia and Southeast Asia helping victims of violence secure justice and partner with key authorities to fix broken justice systems in those countries.

Sacred Heart House | Sacred Heart House of Denver supports homeless women and children. The organization offers both emergency shelter and transitional housing assistance with the goal of putting families on the path towards long-term housing stability.

Lutheran Family Services | The LFS Refugee & Asylee Programs help people who have been uprooted by persecution and violence work towards self-sufficiency through essential resettlement services. LFS works together with volunteers to provide the services and supplies necessary for refugees to become self-sufficient and integrate into their new communities.

Jail Partnership | We believe that every man and woman has inherent dignity, value and worth. In an environment that strips people of dignity, value and worth, we have the opportunity to come alongside marginalized men and women and declare to them this simple truth… you matter.
