Called to Participate

We want to engage with our church and city well—not just as consumers, but as contributors. Serving is one of the ways we participate in the life of our church, offering our different gifts, skills, contexts, and experiences to build each other up and join God’s work of renewal in Denver.

There are several ways to step into this—on Sundays, during the week, and through partnerships across the city.

Serve
Teams

Whether welcoming others, teaching kids, preparing communion, or engaging our city, each role helps create space for people to encounter the presence of God.

  • Help create a safe, fun space for kids (newborn–5th grade) to experience the love of Jesus and learn gospel truths during Sunday gatherings (9AM & 11AM).

  • Be present with middle and high school students on Sunday evenings as they explore who they’re becoming in light of Jesus’ invitation, growing through teaching, small group discussion, and shared experiences.

  • Help create a welcoming space on Sundays where people feel seen, connected, and invited into deeper community at The Summit.

  • Support the flow of Sunday gatherings by managing sound, slides, and teaching recordings—helping people stay present in the service able to revisit the teaching later.

  • Help lead our church in worship through vocals or instruments, creating a space of praise, prayer, and response to the Spirit.

  • Hold space for quiet intercession and spiritual support—before, during, or beyond our gatherings—as we seek God on behalf of our church and city.

  • Use your practical know-how and skills to support seasonal upkeep and one-time projects that improve our space.

  • Help tell stories, capture moments, and shape meaningful experiences across our church life through photography, video, design, or writing.

  • We want to see all of Denver experience restoration through the gospel—and the justice and mercy it brings. Help us build relationships with neighborhoods, nonprofits, and churches who share this vision for our city and other parts of the world, or collaborate with one of our local or global partners.

Before serving, come to Summit Essentials—our class on vision, rhythms, and shared life as a church.

Justice, Mercy, and the Way of Jesus

Justice, mercy, and reconciliation are central to the Kingdom of God. From Genesis to Jesus, we see God’s heart for the poor, the oppressed, and the overlooked. To follow Him is to join Him in making wrong things right—not through force or status, but by walking in love, humility, and the power of His Spirit.

We like to say that, in this work, everyone is both needy and needed. We don’t serve from a distance, but as fellow image-bearers—shaped by the same grace we hope to share. We learn, listen, walk alongside others, and trust that God is already at work wherever we go.

Local & Global
Partners

We partner with a short list of churches and organizations in Denver and in a handful of places around the world.

Each of these partners shares our desire to join God in bringing mercy, justice, and the gospel to marginalized and unreached communities.

  • Park Slope is a gospel-centered church in one of the most secular and post-Christian neighborhoods in New York City. They’re committed to long-haul presence, faithful discipleship, and being a non-anxious presence in the heart of Brooklyn. Our churches share a similar call—to be a faithful presence in creative, urban spaces shaped by skepticism and longing.

  • The D Family lives in the Middle East and serves among oppressed and displaced people groups—those fleeing war, poverty, and persecution. H focuses on refugee aid work, providing food, dignity, and hope to those seeking safety and freedom. B was born and raised in the region and is deeply committed to making the Good News accessible in his heart language—through translation, theological study, and pastoral preparation.

  • Z & E are part of The Summit family, sent to serve in North Africa by learning the local language and culture, building friendships, and investing in their community. Z is involved in business and marketing alongside a local team leader, while E uses her nursing background to care for both locals and refugees. Their hope is to walk alongside men and women in the underground church—discipling and encouraging those following Jesus in a high-risk context.

  • Allan and M’Lynn Waruhiu and their family are following God’s call to plant a church in Nairobi, Kenya—a community rooted in both gospel proclamation and works of compassion. Through Mercy Nairobi Foundation, they aim to cultivate lasting partnerships between Christians in Kenya and the U.S.—challenging charity-based models by inviting shared faith, mutual trust, and collaborative Kingdom work.

  • Save Our Youth provides one-to-one mentorship for young people in Denver, ages 10–17, as a pathway to help them overcome adversity and embrace hope—the belief that they can have something better than they have now, and a role to play in creating it.

Many students face poverty, family instability, or systemic challenges, and mentorship offers them trust, encouragement, and steady presence.

Several Summit members have walked alongside students week after week, showing up as consistent friends and mentors who champion them as they grow into adulthood.

  • Hope & Home walks with families navigating the journey of foster care—offering thoughtful training, relational support, and deep experience. They help create safe, loving homes for children who’ve faced adversity and disruption, and support foster parents with wisdom, advocacy, and encouragement.

Many in our church have found their presence to be an invaluable guide in a complex system—sharing decades of experience with generosity and care.

  • Use your hands and practical skillset to serve in meaningful ways by helping with building care and one-time projects that support our shared spaces.
