Overview

Ruth opens in grief and disorientation, yet God is quietly at work. As the year ends, we remember that His hand is present even when we can’t see it. In the small, faithful steps of ordinary people, hope begins to grow. Our prayer is to turn to God and trust His hidden work as we look to the Redeemer who brings light, life, and love.

  • By Practicing the Way

As we travel through the story of Ruth, we also step into Advent, a season the Church has long set apart to remember the longing for the arrival of Jesus and the kingdom he brings—one marked by hope, peace, joy, and love. Ruth’s story echoes these themes. It begins in grief, yet God is quietly at work, weaving her life into the lineage of Jesus.

This guide offers a simple way to slow down and linger with the themes of Advent as we prepare to celebrate the arrival of Christ Jesus our King and Redeemer.

Redemption Worth Receiving

Ruth 4

The trust and faithfulness we saw in Ruth 3 are carried forward as Boaz and Ruth choose to honor God through ordinary obedience, lived out openly among their community. The story that began with famine and three funerals ends with a restored family and a child in the line of King David—opening into the greater story God was writing, fulfilled in Jesus.
